Congratulations to David Pullini (The Australian GC, Handicap 13) who won The Australian Medal for 2022. The Australian Medal was first held in 1966 and was originally open to Members of The Australian Golf Club and Royal Sydney Golf Club. In 2014, Members of The Lakes Golf Club and New South Wales Golf Club were also invited to participate.
A field of 94 players competed in this years event, which was reduced to 18-holes, playing stroke play from the medal course (blue tees). Conditions were humid with overcast skies and moderate breezes from the South.
David commenced his round on the 10th hole and made the turn with 32 strokes net, including a birdie on the 11th hole. Despite a couple of double-bogie mistakes on holes 4 & 6, he hung on to record a net total of 69 strokes. Six players in total signed for 69, so a count-back was required to determine the winner and placings. David receives a set of Waterford Crystal Tumblers and also a $250 Golf Shop voucher for taking out the win.
Well done to Maxime Boucoiran (Royal Sydney GC, Handicap 4) who took the runner-up honors and a $200 Golf Shop voucher, along with John Formosa (The Australian GC, Handicap 11) who claimed 3rd prize and $150.
Congratulations also to Matthew Giles (The Australian GC) who won the scratch event with a gross total of 70 strokes. Matthew made 4 birdies and 2 bogies during his round and walks away with a $150 voucher.
