The Stace-Kirby Jug was instituted in 2016 as a result of the first reciprocal match between The Australian Golf Club & Royal Wellington Golf Club. The late Ian Stace, a life member and former Captain of RWGC and Kevin Kirby (The Australian Golf Club) negotiated the original reciprocal agreement in 1970. The event is played biennially, alternating venues between The Australian and Royal Wellington.
